Catch and Release
Ella and "Cale baby turtle" for the last time. You'd never guess we had had a traumatic melt down only 10 short minutes before this was taken.

Road to recovery...
Cale had tubes put in and his adenoids taken out today. Everything went very well and we are so glad it is over. He's had 4 ear infections since December and regardless of infection there was ALWAYS fluid. He also has been congested since birth. I assumed that since he was a c-section baby that was why, but after a couple months it seemed as if there was some other things going on. We saw the ENT yesterday for the first time, WONDERFUL man and doctor. He said with Cale's history and fact that there was fluid and infection at that time the best course of action would be tubes and to remove the adenoids. I think he was slightly surprised at my enthusiasm, but, as a mom it's worth it to make your baby better. SO, we scheduled the appointment for first thing this morning. When they got him back to the OR they found things were worse (infection wise) than they thought. They had to do some cutting and draining and suctioning. After hearing that I can only imagine how horrible he has felt for so many months and it made me ache!! These moments are the hardest as parents. He was a little
fussy today, but also a little more cuddly, so, it wasn't ALL bad;) Since this morning he's already said several new words and sounds and things are coming out much more clearly ALREADY-it's like we have a new kid! I don't know how I'm going to keep up with him now. He was happy and busy before, but now that he feels good...I better get ready to run! The above picture was taken before they took him back. He fell asleep on me with his truck, cause REAL MEN sleep with trucks;) He was asleep when they came for him. I carried him to the end of the hallway, handed him to the nurse and she took him through the dreaded double doors...that was awful!! About 5 minutes later the doctor came in and said, "Cale did great. He went from sleep to sleep and I'll be back in about 20 minutes." OK! He didn't lie, as quickly as he left, he was back and said that it went great and Cale was in recovery, they would bring him to us shortly. The Lord is faithful and good and as nervous as I was I found comfort in the fact that when I couldn't be back there with Cale I knew He was and all was good. He slept a lot when we got home and by lunch time was trying again to climb the counters, UGH! I guess you can't keep a good man down! Tuesday, March 8, 2011

Chaos Cale!!!
Painting our face with Ella's lip gloss!
I once heard someone say the definition of a boy is, "noise with a little bit of dirt on it." In 18 months, I am finding that statement to be very true. You can always find him by following the clanking, banging, hammering and of course, grunting. Dirt seems to attract to him like a magnet and I'm not lying when I say we have a busted lip on a daily basis. Cale keeps me on my toes! I don't have time to blog, I barely have time to sit. I used to read with Ella. The only thing Cale really likes to do with books is dump them out. The ONLY time he's still is when he's sleeping! I used to put Ella to bed and get back up. That was when Matt and I could spend some time together or watch a "people show." When Cale goes to bed, I'm WIPED. Bedtime for Cale usually means bedtime for momma. The differences in boys and girls is immeasurable. But, he IS the sweetest thing ever and when he loves on me it melts my heart and he loves on me A LOT!!
