Deliverance...

So, I learned in bible study about deliverance. And, basically there are three ways that the Lord will deliver us in situations:

1. He will deliver us FROM something. Meaning we go around it or avoid it completely. We don’t even know, I’ll say it again, WE DON’T EVEN KNOW half the stuff He’s delivered us from. Little things, big things, no telling how many times a day things. Obviously, this is what we want…deliverance from.

2. He will deliver us through something. Meaning He gets us on the other side of it. Or,

3. He will deliver us by something and into His arms. Meaning that it’s made complete.

Today, I got a lesson in deliverance. I got in the car this afternoon to go get Ella from school. The air was coming out and it was hot!! I mean, HOT. It was a cool 76 degrees outside so the hotness wasn’t so awful, but nonetheless needed to be fixed. I mean, this is Alabama. There is a very nice probability that it will be 97 tomorrow. Thank you Lord for deliverance from the heat, but that’s not the point here. So, I get Ella and we proceed to the dealership to see what the damage is going to be. In short, there are two options the wonderfully nice guy says we have:

1. He can hook up some nifty thing-a-majig to the car and see if he can get it working for which he won’t charge me. YES, we’ll take that one!! But, of course, this may not work. Or,

2. They have to take out the radio and basically the entire dash to replace a part about the size of my cell phone, costing about $600. Um, great.

So, he walked back in to grab his nifty tool and while he was gone I prayed (out loud), Dear LORD, PLEASE let him fix this for FREE!! To which Ella goes, “Momma, that was the craziest prayer you’ve ever said.” Well, baby, Philippians 4 tells us to pray about ALL things and that is what this is…ALL things. So, he comes back and hooks up the little deal. I can tell he’s doing his thing and he’s tried it several times. He turns and looks at me and says, “I don’t think I’m gonna get it to work.” Sigh (me, not him). He asked me if I can bring it back in the morning. “Yes, I can.” Then he goes, let me try it one more time. Ok. Seconds later he turns and goes, “I got it.” I asked him if he was kidding and proceeded to do a little jig in the parking lot. I’m sure it was entertaining. Thank you Lord!! De.liv.er.ance (in my singing voice)!!! And, on the flip, yet another wonderful teachable moment and priceless lesson for Ella.

I’m guilty sometimes about not praying for something because I think it’s dumb or insignificant. And, I know that a lot of other people are too. We live in the lie that something is a health issue and not a God issue. Or a political issue and not a God issue. Or an “insert your name here” issue and not a God issue. But, like I posted a couple weeks ago, God cares about all the “little” issues in our lives. So, cast your cares on Him, whatever they are. I assure you, He cares. And, if you’re worried about those issues that we don’t deem insignificant, I.e. health or politics, pray about that too. As a child of the Most High, prayer is the most powerful tool you have, USE IT!!

Little Bo Peep

Ella had Nursery Rhyme Day at her school on Friday. Each child chooses a rhyme, memorizes it, dresses up and then recites it. The families get to come watch and the parents bring a snack or treat that goes with their child's rhyme. It was such a fun day, we all enjoyed ourselves. I mean, what's not to like about a bunch of kindergarteners public speaking!! Ella chose Little Bo Peep, this was her poem:

Little Bo-Peep has lost her sheep, and can’t tell where to find them;
Leave them alone, and they’ll come home, and bring their tails behind them.

Little Bo-Peep fell fast asleep, and dreamt she heard them bleating;
But when she awoke, she found it a joke, for still they all were fleeting.

Then up she took her little crook, Determined for to find them;
She found them indeed, but it made her heart bleed, for they’d left all their tails behind ‘em!

It happened one day, as Bo-Peep did stray unto a meadow hard by------
There she espied their tails, side by side, all hung on a tree to dry.

She heaved a sigh, and wiped her eye, and over the hillocks she raced;
And tried what she could, as a shepherdess should, That each tail should be properly placed.

She did great, I was so proud of her! I'm amazed at her ability to be so comfortable in front of people. If you are wondering about the treat I took...I made lamb cupcakes. I don't have a picture, for the final product did NOT match the picture that was in my head and could only best be described as something you could find on craftfail.com!! I tried, they looked pretty pitiful, but I was told they tasted good. I'm not Martha, I don't do pinterest, baking is not my gift. I'm ok with that. We had fun doing it and I enjoyed seeing my little girl perform once again. Happy Nursery Rhyme Day!!
